KEEN-parison: Kids' Water Shoes

Summer is for splashing round. Think: running through the sprinkler. Wading in a kiddie pool. Water balloon fight? Great idea. You totally want your kids to have their fun with some water. But splinters, rocks, and bruises? No thanks.

Which is why water shoes are the way to go. They’re the best of both worlds; they let kids go ahead and sprint around outside without any ouchies. (Well, we can’t guarantee that last part—but at least they can avoid foot-related ouchies.)

But which KEEN Kids’ water shoes are the right ones for your currently barefoot kiddo? Let’s see if we can break it down a bit. (Psst . . . don’t miss the best part of this list—all of them are machine washable.)

That’s great and all. But maybe you want kids’ water shoes that can double up as hiking shoes. Or maybe your kiddo has to be sedated to put on shoes instead of going barefoot. Don’t worry. We’ve got an overview of KEEN Kids’ water kicks right here.

Newport H2: Want a rugged, supportive shoe that can go from the backyard pool to a family bike ride? Newport H2 sandals do the trick. Plus, they’ve got history. They’re based on our first-ever shoe, the Newport sandal (so we’ve nearly got it down to a science by now). Available from toddlers to teens to grown-ups.

Seacamp II CNX: Think of the Seacamp as a lighter, more airy version of the Newport. It still has grip and a snug fit, but with a slimmer look and a more barefoot feel. A great one to try if wearing shoes is kind of a battle with your kid.

KEEN Kids Stingray water shoesStingray sandals make a splash from tidal pools to backyard pools.

Stingray: Your kid's spirit animal is a gecko, and they need a go-to summer shoe. This one’s for you. Our Stingray sandals have a super-soft stretchy knit upper that feels darn close to being barefoot. They’re low to the ground and provide better traction on wet surfaces, everything from slick grass to slippery patios.

Moxie: Your little ones want to have fun, but also want shoes that look sassy and stylish. I mean, who can blame them? Bring on the kids' Moxie sandal. These are “fancy” shoes that can get dirty and wet and live to tell about it. A textured footbed and soft microfiber overlays make them as comfy as they are cool.

Knotch Creek: The newest member of our closed-toe sandal lineup for kids, Knotch Creek brings a lighter, more flexible outsole and a little more foot coverage to our kid-loved sandal fit. (It also comes in an open-toe version, and is sized for toddlers, too.)

Splash pads? Game on. Water balloon barrage? You bet. A thorough soaking with the hose? Comin’ at you, kids. Summer is better when wet.
